Traditional Braces With A Twist
Incognito™ is an orthodontic bracket system commonly known as lingual braces. You might hear these called "inside braces," and Dr. Adam places your lingual braces behind your teeth rather than in front, making your treatment completely invisible.
What Are Incognito™ Lingual Braces?
Incognito™ braces are, well, incognito. Placing brackets on the back of the teeth instead of the front is a great way to treat orthodontic issues if you're worried about the appearance of metal braces.
Dr. Adam and our team place traditional braces on the outside of your teeth, making them highly visible. Lingual braces perform the same function as traditional braces by applying slow, constant pressure over time, shifting the teeth into straighter positions-only other people can't see them.
Like traditional braces, Incognito uses a wire and bracket system to apply force to move the teeth. However, with Incognito™, no one will know you are wearing braces unless you tell them.
The Benefits of Incognito
When considering orthodontic treatment, many people around Tampa Bay feel concerned about how it will change their appearance. If you want to improve your smile without others knowing, Incognito™ is the perfect treatment option!
Incognito Is Customized for YOU
Incognito™ braces are as unique as the people who wear them. Because no two people are alike, no two sets of Incognito™ are alike.
To create your lingual braces, Dr. Adam and our team will take a mold of your teeth. We use a 3M True Definition Scanner to get a digital impression of the teeth.
Next, we'll send your digital impression to Incognito™. They will manufacture brackets and wires according to Dr. Adam's treatment plan for your smile. This process takes about six weeks. After that, he'll bond the brackets to the back of your teeth.
With Incognito™, you have a completely custom-made bracket system, ensuring effective and efficient treatment and excellent aesthetics.
Advanced Technology, Flawless Results
These unique braces are created using state-of-the-art robotic technology that bends wires so precisely that they become 100% customized for your case, and each bracket is made to conform to the shape of your teeth.
Lingual braces are more effective than plastic aligners and can correct complex problems like rotations, bite discrepancies, crowding, and spacing.
Manufacturers of Incognito™ braces are continually making design improvements. Today's low-profile brackets are a fraction of the size of their traditional counterparts.
Most lingual braces are 1.5mm thick, whereas older ones are 3.5mm. Incognito™ brackets' contours are much rounder and smoother than previously available.
Great for Most Smiles
Orthodontic Associates uses Incognito™ braces to treat men and women aged 13 to older than 60.
Most people who can be treated with regular braces can be treated with Incognito, but only an orthodontist like Dr. Adam can tell you if Incognito™ is the right treatment option for you.
People who stand to benefit from this treatment approach can include:
- Adult professionals
- People who want to avoid damage to the front surfaces of their teeth
- People who are concerned about wearing braces that show
- Musicians who play wind instruments
- Adults and teens who participate in contact sports
Lingual Braces FAQs
How Much Does Incognito™ Cost?
Expand
Incognito™ braces have two unique components that traditional braces lack:
- They're customized to fit your mouth
- They're cast in gold instead of stainless steel
Each tooth has an installment of brackets and archwires, so the cost can be higher than traditional braces (about $5,000 on average). Since your braces are custom-made, the treatment tends to be more involved, which affects the cost.
However, the exact amount will depend on your treatment needs. Several factors contribute to treatment costs, so scheduling a consultation with one of our experts will give you a better understanding of the costs and the benefits.
And if cost is a factor, but you would feel more comfortable wearing hidden braces, our treatment coordinator will discuss ways to make the treatment cost financially feasible. Also, remember that for relatively minor corrections, it is possible to treat your case with lingual braces only on the front teeth, which are most visible when you smile.
You also can elect to place Incognito™ braces on your top arch and traditional braces (metal or clear) on the bottom, as these teeth are usually less visible to others.
Will My Appointments Be Different?
Expand
Dr. Adam has treated patients with Incognito™ for over eight years, so our team is very familiar with this innovative system. Your appointments aren't any longer than if you had traditional braces.
Are There Any Drawbacks to Incognito™?
Expand
Due to their placements facing the inside of the mouth, Incognito lingual braces may irritate the tongue and cause it to become tender. Using wax against the lower teeth to cover the braces can help alleviate this soreness.
Some report that speaking and enunciation take some adjustment while wearing lingual braces.
Some patients also say that their lingual braces also made it a little different to eat. Also, general oral hygiene practices can be slightly more time-consuming.
Dr. Adam will provide you with a list of foods to avoid. While following dietary and hygiene recommendations is important no matter the type of braces you're wearing, being diligent about following instructions is paramount if you are wearing lingual braces.
